Emmalene Callaghan
Violin and Piano Tutor
Emmalene began her music journey at age 10 with a love for piano and violin.
She was heavily involved in the West Australian Youth Orchestra’s with a music scholarship at Iona Presentation College.
Previously taught by renowned musicians Graham Wood and Paul Wright, Emmalene completed WACE music in 2013 and was accepted into Specialist Music Performance Studies at UWA where she is now studying psychology to become a Music Therapist.
Emmalene believes that learning to play music is a wonderful thing and should always be enjoyable and entertaining, regardless if you’re beginner or advanced player.
She loves teaching at Penny Lane’s and being surrounded by musicians, students and parents who feel the same way.
Emmalene always strives to create fun and engaging lessons that are tailored to each student and their way of learning, to foster their own love of music for years to come!

Lauralee Faith
Vocal Performance and Piano Tutor
Lauralee has been blessed with a deeply soulful voice that can bristle with intensity and soothe like honey.
She is a highly regarded and outstanding West Australian Vocalist and winner of WAM Song of the Year 2022.
Lauralee has worked with some of Australia’s finest musicians and she loves sharing her depth of knowledge and performance experience with her students.
Soulful to the core, Lauralee’s teaching style is as brilliant as she is!
Lauralee provides personalised private and buddy lessons as well as group lessons and choir sessions for adults & children alike.

Roy Martinez
Bass, Guitar, Piano and Drum Tutor
Roy Martinez has been teaching music for the past 35 years.
After starting his musical journey at 5 years old, he has been a professional musician in the Perth and International live performance, Concert, Festival and Touring scene for over 40 years and he has earned his place as one of the premier and in-demand musicians in the industry.
He is often the first-call recording session musician in the top studios in the State, which on a few occasions has led him being invited to record in studios with prominent artists in Melbourne & Sydney and oversees in Nashville, Los Angeles, Detroit and New York.
Roy has also won the coveted ‘West Australian Music Industry’ award as ‘Best Bassist’ in 2005, 2017, 2018, 2019.
He is predominantly specialised in the field of Guitar and Bass Guitar, but also adept at teaching Drums and Keyboards from beginners to intermediate levels.

Penny Watt
Piano Tutor
Penny has loved music from an early age, playing piano since she was five.
At 13 her first paid job was playing piano to shoppers on a Saturday morning. At 14I she started her teaching journey and discovered how much she enjoyed sharing her love of music with others.
From 2019-2021 she studied in Melbourne, and some of her side projects during this time included writing movie blogs and presenting podcasts for Swinburne University.
She has a special interest in movie scores, classical, jazz, musicals and contemporary tracks.
Teaching at Penny Lane’s allows her to share her musical passion and she couldn’t be happier.

Ben Avitra
Classically trained in Piano from the age of 6, Ben became interested in guitar and drums in primary and high school years. In 2007, Ben was accepted into WAAPA as a vocalist.
Offered the opportunity to front WAYJO’s big band he accepted and performed at venues like the Pagoda and Perth’s Concert Hall.
Ben acquired an Advance Diploma of Sound Production in Melbourne and played in numerous bands and then later returned to Perth to put into action his learnings as a multi instrumentalist, singer and songwriter.
Ben can teach Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums, Didgeridoo and Voice from beginner through to intermediate levels and takes into account each individuals learning style.
Ben believes there is freedom in expression and he is here to guide you through barriers so you can feel free to express yourself through music.
Ben teaches at Penny Lane’s on Fridays and Saturdays.

Bodhi Houareau-Rose
Bodhi grew up in a musical household and music has always been part of his life.
He was accepted into the Gifted and Talented Music Program at Fremantle College at age 11 and continued to study music at John Curtin College of the Arts, specialising in percussion and graduating in 2015.
Since then he has been performing at venues such as Sonar Room, Mojo’s Bar and The Rosemount Hotel.
He has also participated in regular jam nights at his family home, giving him a deep understanding of the roles of each instrument.
For the past 6 years Bodhi has been working as an outdoor adventure instructor at a camp called Dare Adventures, where he has facilitated a large variety of groups through teamwork and adventure activities.
This has given him a great understanding of how to work with all types of people to achieve high-quality learning, whilst still maintaining a fun and upbeat atmosphere.
During 2022, Bodhi began writing his own original songs as well as giving freelance music lessons to local kids.
He has now joined Penny Lane’s excellent team of music teachers and is excited share his love of music with the Freo community.
Bodhi teaches djembe, percussion, guitar and bass guitar.Description goes here
